With the digitalization of the business world, the attack surface for cyberattacks is also constantly increasing. But how acute is the threat situation really and how are large companies preparing for the growing security risk? Almost every company has been affected at least once: 97% of respondents in the DACH region stated in a recent survey by Deloitte that they had reported at least one cyber incident at their company in the past year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over 60 percent even report six or more such attacks. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, various reporting obligations apply to cyber attacks and data protection incidents. For the Deloitte Global Future of Cyber Survey 2024, almost 1,200 managers were surveyed worldwide, 101 of whom were from the DACH region. <\/p>

All of the companies surveyed have more than 1,000 employees and an annual turnover of at least 500 million US dollars. Most respondents (21%) perceive cyber criminals as the most critical actors, followed by cyber terrorists (17%) and employees with malicious intent (13%). 12 percent consider other countries to be the greatest cyber threat to their company. The negative consequences that companies have already experienced as a result of cyberattacks are immense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Loss of sales and reputation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Almost all respondents stated that they had been affected by loss of reputation (95%), loss of revenue (92%), share price slumps (95%) or fines (94%). \"In the age of digital business models and data-driven corporate transformations, cyber security is not an option, but a necessity. The extensive extent to which companies are affected makes it clear that digital security should be at the top of the agenda,\" says Marius von Spreti, Head of Cyber at Deloitte Germany. Companies attach great importance to securing their digital infrastructures in the future: 67% plan to further increase their spending on cyber security in the next one to two years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
